Amelia Jane Hawkins

Birth:1896 Marriage:1925 Death:1978

Mother was Amelia Allen. Father was John Hawkins.
Born 23th September 1896 in Saint Mary's Newington. Married aged 29 to Sidney Charles Thorne, on the 19th Dec 1925, at Southwark registry office.

Amelia and Sidney had six children. Five boys and a girl.

Sid and Amelia lost their home in October 1940 when a parachute landmine destroyed part of Queens Buildings. Amelia's sister, Elizabeth Lummes, lost her home twice to bombs during the war.

Amelia emigrated with some of her children/grandchildren, to Melbourne Australia, in 1960. Two years later they all returned to the UK.

Amelia died 27th March 1978, aged 81.

Born 1868 in Lambeth Surrey. John worked as a Type founder.

Married aged 24, to Amelia Allen, on the 16th of April 1892, at St. John's, Waterloo Rd. Children were:

John Hawkins and his family appear in the 1901 census, and the 1911 census.

John P Hawkins died in 1922, aged 54. He fell down the stairs, in Queen's Buildings, and fractured his skull.

Born 1828 in Lambeth Surrey England.

Married Jane Skevington in 1856, and had eight children. Henry is shown in the 1881 census returns as a Boot Maker and his wife as a Boot Binder. Henry & Jane's children were:
